Are you wondering “Is there Uber in Europe?” I’m gonna help you figure it out!
Uber is the most widely used taxi app in the world and these days it’s a lot of people’s number one go-to option for getting around.
As a solo female traveller, I certainly feel safer if I can use Uber rather than just flagging down a random taxi in a city I don’t know.
When I’m helping people to plan their trips around Europe, I often get asked “Can you use Uber in Europe?” or even “Is Uber illegal in Europe?”.
A lot of people are under the impression that Uber is banned in Europe, but that isn’t true! I’ve also seen a lot of misinformation online claiming that you can use Uber all over Europe, which is also far from the truth!
The truth is that Uber is popular across Europe but unfortunately, it doesn’t operate in every European country and city. Europe is a big place after all!
I decided to write this guide to Uber in Europe so that there is finally some accurate information out there.
I’ve done a ton of research, as well as used my own personal experience of using Uber in multiple countries and cities across Europe, to create a definitive list of where Uber operates in Europe.
So let’s dive into it!
🚗 If Uber does not exist in the country you want to visit then consider renting a car instead!
Is Uber Available In Europe?
The short answer is yes, there is Uber in Europe. However, it’s not that simple!
Uber is available in many popular European travel destinations but there are also many places where it does not exist yet.
There are 19 countries in Europe where Uber does not operate and in the 30 countries in Europe where Uber does operate, it is not always available in every city.
Below I’ve listed Every country in Europe in alphabetical order. For each country, I’ve clearly stated whether you can use Uber there or not.
For countries with Uber, I have listed which cities it operates in, and for countries without Uber, I have listed different taxi apps and alternatives to Uber. If you scroll to the bottom of the list there’s a handy colour-coded map for easy reference.
I’ve also created this free, helpful cheat sheet that you can download as a PDF and use as a quick reference guide when planning your travels around Europe.
