Instagrammable Places In Marrakech
1. Jardin Majorelle

This is my favourite spot in Morocco for getting incredible Instagram-worthy pictures.
Jardin Majorelle (also known as the YSL Garden) is a botanical garden designed by French artist Jacques Majorelle and later owned by designer Yves Saint Laurent. The vibrant blue villa and lush green gardens make for the perfect backdrop for any photo.
There are several excellent photo spots throughout the garden. I recommend getting there early in the morning to avoid the crowds and get the best light.
🌴 You need to pre-book tickets online to enter the gardens. Check prices and availability here
2. The Souks

Another excellent Instagram spot in Marrakech is the souks (markets). These bustling markets are filled with colourful goods, unique architecture, and plenty of photo opportunities. The vibrant colours and intricate patterns make for stunning photos.
You can get lost in the maze-like souks and stumble upon hidden gems around every corner. Just be prepared to haggle with the shopkeepers if you want to purchase anything.
3. Bahia Palace

Bahia Palace is a must-visit for any Instagrammer in Marrakech. It is without a doubt one of the most Instagram worthy places in Marrakech.
This stunning palace showcases traditional Moroccan architecture and features beautiful gardens, mosaic tiles, and intricate details.
My friends and I spent hours wandering around the palace, taking photos in every corner.
I recommend hiring a guide to give you a tour of the palace and provide information about its history. This will also give you the opportunity to learn about the best photo spots and get some insider tips.
📷 JJ’s Pro Tip: Wear bright colours to stand out against the colourful backgrounds! And don’t forget to pose in front of one of the many ornate doors or windows for a picture-perfect shot.
4. Koutoubia Mosque

No trip to Marrakech is complete without visiting the iconic Koutoubia Mosque. This stunning mosque is a beautiful architectural masterpiece and a popular spot for photos.
Early morning or late afternoon are the best times to visit, as the lighting is perfect for photography. However, keep in mind that non-Muslims are not allowed inside the mosque, so you can only take photos from the outside.
Be sure to capture the intricate details and patterns of the mosque’s exterior, as well as its towering minaret.
Don’t forget to respect the sacredness of this place by being mindful of your surroundings and dressing modestly while taking photos.
📷 JJ’s Pro Tip: Experiment with different angles and perspectives to capture unique shots of this iconic landmark. And remember to be respectful of those who are visiting the mosque for prayer.
5. Musée Yves Saint Laurent

Fashion lovers, this one’s for you! The Musée Yves Saint Laurent is a must-visit for anyone interested in fashion and design.
This museum showcases the life and work of legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, with stunning displays of his iconic creations.
You aren’t allowed to take photos inside of the museum. However, the iconic YSL logo at the entrance to the museum is one of the most Insta-famous places in Marrakech! So, make sure to snap a photo here before or after your visit.
6. Streets Of The Medina

Exploring the winding streets of the Medina is a must-do for any visitor to Marrakech. This bustling area is full of colourful markets, street performers, and local vendors selling everything from spices and textiles to traditional crafts.
While wandering through the Medina, be sure to have your camera ready as there will be plenty of opportunities for amazing photos.
Capture the vibrant colours, intricate architecture, and lively atmosphere of this historic area. And don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with the locals for an even more authentic experience!
📷 JJ’s Pro Tip: Try visiting the Medina during different times of the day, such as early morning or late afternoon, to capture different lighting and moods in your photos. And always ask for permission before taking photos of individuals or their goods.
7. El Badi Palace

Step back in time at the El Badi Palace, a 16th-century palace that once housed sultans and their families. Although now in ruins, this magnificent palace is still a sight to behold with its grand courtyards, intricate tile work, and ornate decorations.
I didn’t get a chance to visit this palace during my trip, but it’s definitely on the top of my must-visit list for next time
📷 JJ’s Pro Tip: Bring a wide-angle lens or use the panorama feature on your camera to capture the vastness of the palace grounds. And don’t forget to explore every nook and cranny for unique photo opportunities!
8. Ben Youssef Madrasa

Another must-see for architecture and history lovers is the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a former Islamic college that dates back to the 14th century.
This stunning building boasts intricate tilework, carved wooden ceilings, and tranquil courtyards perfect for capturing some peaceful shots.
During my visit, I was amazed by the level of detail in every corner of this madrasa. It’s truly a photographer’s dream!
